Page Set Up & Suggestions
- Most word processing programs can set up a 2-column page to create this look. (See attached format sheet.)
- For computers without this ability, students can type the information and can cut and paste information into place on the page.
- Lamination will keep the completed profiles in good condition.
- Suggestion: Color-coding the profiles according to cluster using different colored paper.
More suggestions for storage and organization:
1. Profiles can be organized by Career Cluster and then within each cluster, the profiles can be placed in alphabetical order by job title.
2. Use hanging file folders to store the completed profiles in the Career Center (or Student Services until center is established).
Suggested Classroom Approach:
1. Divide class into 5 teams, based on their career cluster choice.
2. Brainstorm possible jobs within the cluster.
3. Narrow down the possible job list to the top 3-5 jobs to research and produce Vocational Profile.
4.Cover research skills and how to cite sources (bibliography cards).
5. Go over presentation format of Vocational Profile and have teams appoint / elect members to be in charge of one or more of the major areas for the profile.
6. Set deadlines for research, first draft, etc.
7. Groups will meet weekly to update and receive a grade for work produced thus far.
