Simplifying Radical Expressions

The product property of square roots (pages 719-720) and prime factorization (pages 558-563) can be used to simplify irrational square roots.

When you simplify radical expressions with variables, use absolute values (page 85) to ensure non-negative results.

Use the quotient property of square roots (pages 721-722) and a method called rationalizing the demoninator (which sometimes requires using conjugates) to simplifying radical expressions involving division. Study the examples below.
