Subject: Specific Questions .... workday tomorrow (sorry for the short notice)
Chris,
I have finally finished with semester exams: composing, grading, averaging and bubbling. I have also just gotten back from presenting at the national winter meeting of the American Association of Physics Teachers. So I am ready to get back on task with this project. Thank-you for the magazines!
I know that I am late, and I hope that you can answer any or all of these questions quickly. We are having a work day tomorrow, January 24th. The second email listed above is my school mail which I can open throughout the day.
(1) What is the name and phone number of the company that takes away the sludge
for processing?
(2) What is the name and phone number of the company that is running the methane
recovery program at the landfill?
(3) Can you fax us (226-0332) a copy of the final recyled water's chemical
makeup? Can you elaborate on why some of the water is discharged into the Halifax
instead of into the recycling program?
(4) Can you fax us a layout of the LPGA plant?
(5) What was the genus and type of bacteria used in the digesters that used to
operate in Volusia County?
(6) How much methane is produced (and released freely into the air) at the Bethune
Point Plant and at the LPGA Plant ... (whatever rate you know)
(7) Do you have a name and phone number of someone we can speak with at the Sanford
plant? Do you still think that they are operating a digester? Any other cities that you
know of operating digesters in Florida?
(8) What is the procedure to retrofit an existing WWP? Who is the
watchdog agency? How are plans reviewed?
(9) What is the name of the legislation that you told me about where when you are at
50% capacity you have to develop a plan and at 75% you have to implement the plan for
expansion?
(10) What was the name/number of the city ordinance that requires industrial pretreatment
for heavy metals?
(11) Are all of the VC plants implementing UV lights for sterilizing water (to
replace the chlorine treatment?) How will that affect the final water's chemical profile?
(12) What about jobs in this field ... what qualifications do you look for in hiring
operators? Is the demand for employment in the field of WW Management increasing or
decreasing? Is the level of expertise potential employees need becoming more
sophisticated?
Any that you can answer quickly, please do so ... I am so sorry about my delay. There has just not been enough time. The team is looking forward to this information as we try and nail our project. Cathy
