We are a comprehensive public high school located in Daytona Beach, Florida. To learn more about us, take a moment and visit our school's webpage. Mainland teachers and students have spent the past two summers developing this web-based curriculum which consists of nine modules that are aligned with the NCTM's Standards 2000. To view a module's curriculum, click on its description in the adjacent left-hand column. From each module's home page, a calendar will take you to a day-to-day outline. Clicking on any day guides you to that day's summary page with specific classwork, homework and journal assignments. Teachers at Mainland will be assigning this curriculum to their students through ActiveClassroom, a web-based classroom management application. Permission has been granted by Glencoe/McGraw-Hill, the publisher of our District's Algebra textbooks, for students and teachers participating in this pilot program to view html-converted ancillary materials as a means of providing "an interesting way to enhance their mathematics skills." This project is supported with funds provided by a USDOE Technology Innovation Challenge Grant entitled The Career Connection to Teaching With Technology (CCTT) whose mission is "to develop standards-based curriculum materials and deliver them to the educational community through integrated technologies." CCTT seeks to involve outstanding teachers from geographically diverse schools and districts nationwide in the development of educational resources, aligned with challenging state and national standards. Guided by content experts from national educational organizations, teachers systematically and continuously create materials from Internet resources, and use them effectively in their classrooms. |
