FLORIDA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS
The state of Florida has instituted a lottery-funded scholarship for outstanding students entitled FLORIDA'S BRIGHT FUTURES SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM. There are several ways a student may earn a scholarship from this fund.

General Eligibility Criteria:
- Be a Florida Resident
- Be a Florida high school graduate
- Not be guilty of a felony
- Use award within three years of graduation
- Attend a Florida college or university
Specific Eligibility Criteria:

FLORIDA ACADEMIC SCHOLARS AWARD. You can earn this scholarship through two different paths. |
|
A) Non-Curriculum Evaluation:
- Be a National Merit or Achievement Scholar and Finalist, or
- National Hispanic Scholars, or
- Have an IB Diploma, or
- Completed IB curriculum and 1270/SAT or 28/ACT, or
- Home Education documented in 11th & 12th grades AND 1270/SAT or
28/ACT, or
- GED with 3.5 weighted GPA in the 15 required credits and 1270/SAT
or 28/ACT
B) Curriculum Evaluation:
- Have a 3.5 weighted GPA in 15 college preparatory courses*
- Have 1270/SAT
or 28/ACT
- Have 75 hours community service
Awards for Florida Academic Scholars
If attending a public institution: 100% of tuition and fees (up to $300/semester)
for college related expenses prorated by terms and hours.
If attending a private institution:
fixed awards based on 100% of the average tuition and fees (up to $300/semester) at a comparable Florida pubic institution prorated by terms and hours.

FLORIDA MEDALLION SCHOLARS AWARD. To earn this scholarship the student must: |

A) Non-Curriculum Evaluation:
- National Merit or Achievement Scholars and Finalists and National Hispanic
Scholars who have not completed 75 hours of community service, or
- Completed IB curriculum and 970/SAT or 20/ACT, or
- Attended a Home School Program according to s.1002.41, F.S., registered with
the district during 11th & 12th grades and have 1070/SAT or 23/ACT, or
- GED with 3.0 weighted GPA in the 15 required credits and 970/SAT
or 20/ACT
B) Curriculum Evaluation:
- Have a 3.0 weighted GPA in the 15 college preparatory courses*
- Have 970/SAT or 20/ACT,
Awards for Florida Medallion Scholars
If attending a public institution: 75% of tuition and fees
(up to $300/semester) prorated by term and hours
If attending a private institution:
Fixed award based on 75% of the average tuition and fees (up to $300/semester)
at a comparable Florida pubic institution, prorated by term and hours

FLORIDA GOLD SEAL VOCATIONAL SCHOLARS AWARD. To earn this scholarship the student must: |

- Earn a weighted 3.0 GPA in 15.5 core subjects required for graduation with a
4-year diploma
4 English
3 Mathematics
3 Natural Science
3 Social Science (Am. Hist., World Hist., Am. Govt. and Economics)
1 Practical Arts; OR 1 Performing Arts; OR ½ credit in each
½ Life Management Skills
½ Personal Fitness
½ Physical Education
Plus a minimum of 3 Vocational Job-Preparatory or Technology
Education Program credits in one vocational program.
- Earn an unweighted 3.5 GPA in a minimum of 3 vocational credits in one vocational program
- Earn a minimum score on each subsection of one of the following tests:
- College Placement Test (Reading Comprehension - 83, Sentence Skills - 83, and Elementary Algebra - 72),
or
- SAT (Math - 440, Verbal - 440),
or
- ACT (Reading - 18, English - 17, and Math - 19)
- The other ways to qualify listed below must also include a 3.5 unweighted
GPA in a minimum of 3 vocational credits in one vocational program and minimum
test scores listed above
- 3-year Career Preparatory Diploma with 3.0 weighted GPA using the 15 core
credits required for graduation listed below
4 English (3 w/substantial writing)
3 Mathematics (inc. Algebra I)
3 Natural Science (2 w/substantial lab)
3 Social Science
2 Foreign Language (in same language)
15 credits
- 3-year College Preparatory Diploma with 3.0 weighted GPA using the 15 core
credits required for graduation listed below
4 English (3 w/substantial writing)
3 Mathematics (Algebra I and above)
3 Natural Science (2 w/substantial lab)

If attending a public institution: 75% of tuition and fees
